A writer can also work as an individual freelancer and take articles that interest him/her and set their own work timings, this is called freelance writing. A regular job in an organization guarantees continuous work. However in freelancing there is always a risk of scam and one should be extremely careful while taking up freelancing jobs. Some of the scams are...

People planning to enter into writing should have adequate educational qualification. There are a lot of journalism courses available that cater to this segment. The demand now is high for freelance writers. The main benefit of being a writer is that job satisfaction is high. A writer writes on a topic that fascinates and interests him. It also allows for greater clarity of thought communication. The primary disadvantage of being a writer is that there is no financial stability. Also it is time consuming and challenging.

India's outlook is becoming global. The educational system along with the advantage of broader perspectives has invited a lot of companies from different countries to outsource their writing work to India. The rising prominence of writing and its effectiveness and also the gaining momentum of the internet has brought about an increase in the demand for writers both online and offline. In this information technology time, blog and online content writing is in huge demand, and the best advantage is that you can easily do this job sitting at your home.

Internet has become a major means of employment for writers in India and all over world. The opportunities in India are

Letter and Article Writing: There are a number of magazines and newspapers in India that encourage writers. These cover lifestyle, fitness, entertainment, lifestyles, interiors, cooking, travel and living etc. One can write on topic of interest and send it across to the concerned magazine for publication.

Manuscripts: A writer can send across his manuscript to publications here along with a covering letter. With the increase in popularity of Indian books there is a lot of scope for writers.
Online: There is tremendous scope for content writing on the internet. This includes writing content for websites, copy writing for marketing, writing user manuals, creative writing, research writing and ghost writing. It also offers a lot flexibility and scope for growth.

Question: I happened to come across this site which is about working from home in india. I am really interested in working from home as I have spare time with me. I would like to know more about freelance writing and also at the same time about home based job/business that can be done. I am a post graduate. What kind of freelance writing can be done? or for that matter online job/business that can be done?

By Mrs.Kulkarni on Mon 21-Apr-2008 05:02 PM

Answer: Mrs. Kulkarni,
Writing jobs online is a very profitable field that you can easily make use of. If you have your internet connection and your computer is ready you can start right now. As a freelance writer you can write articles for website or a magazine, you can rewrite already written articles, also you can post blogs on forums, proofreading and editing of written materials.

As a post graduate, it qualifies you for writing more advanced papers in your field of experience. Along with the writing jobs there are other jobs / assignments that you can take online.

These jobs ranges from simple data entry jobs where you are required to enter simple data into a database to doing internet researches and sales. You will find it easy to work as a part timer because writing jobs usually do not need specific hours as long as you meet the dead line. You can take assignments according to your schedule so your part time job wont be a burden on your shoulder but it will be increasing your income without making a lot of effort , at least you do not have to leave your home !!
