BCPL stands for Brahmaputra Gas Cracker and Polymer Limited. It is a joint venture company with GAIL and both are the holder of 70% equity. The agreement between both the companies was initiated recently. According to the terms of the agreement, BCPL would produce different types of polymers meant for various applications in sectors like packaging film, raffia, injection and blow moulding.
This move is projected to enhance the supply of various end-use products such as water-storage tanks, house-wares, packaging materials, buckets, crates, cement, woven sacks, edible oil containers and chemicals in different North Indian states.
Other joint venture partners include Oil India Limited (OIL), Assam Government and Numaligarh Refineries Limited (NRL). Each of these partners holds 10% equity.
