CRIS (Centre for Railway Information Systems) is a strategic operational wing of the Indian Railways. The head office of the organization is based in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. The prestigious organization is an autonomous body which functions under the Ministry of Railways. Apart from New Delhi, other regional data centers of the organization are in Mumbai, Chennai, Secunderabad, Gorakhpur, Patna and Kolkata.

Key activities of CSIR are to develop, implement and maintain major computer applications like Passenger Reservation System and Freight Operations System on behalf of the Indian Railways.

The passenger reservation ticketing system which functions under PRS is believed to be world's largest online reservation application. This ticketing system is also known as CONCERT (Country-wide Network of Computerized Enhanced Reservation and Ticketing).

Apart from it, CRIS also handles various other significant projects. Key projects among them include:

  • National Train Enquiry System (NTES)
  • Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS)
